An oil-soluble beta hydroxy acid that penetrates into pores to dissolve excess sebum and dead skin cells. The go-to ingredient for acne-prone and oily skin.

Unclogs pores, reduces blackheads and whiteheads, controls oil, reduces inflammation, smooths skin texture.
Use 0.5-2% concentration. Start 2-3 times per week and increase as tolerated. Apply to clean, dry skin. Follow with moisturizer.

Cautions
Can be drying, especially at higher concentrations. Not recommended during pregnancy (discuss with doctor). Avoid combining with other exfoliants initially.
Can I use SA every day?
2% daily works for most. Reduce to every other day if dryness occurs.
SA with retinol?
Use caution. Alternate days or SA in AM, retinol PM.
SA vs benzoyl peroxide?
SA unclogs pores (blackheads). BP kills bacteria (red pimples). Many use both.
SA on sensitive skin?
Start with 0.5-1% wash-off cleanser. Generally better tolerated than glycolic acid.
