Tranexamic Acid (Topical)

The topical form of tranexamic acid used for treating melasma and hyperpigmentation. Works by inhibiting plasminogen activator in keratinocytes.
Treats melasma, fades hyperpigmentation, anti-inflammatory, reduces UV-induced pigmentation, safe for darker skin tones.
Apply in serum or cream form. Can be used morning and evening. Often combined with niacinamide and vitamin C.
Strong clinical evidence for melasma treatment. 5% topical TXA shown comparable to 2% hydroquinone in some studies. Safe for long-term use.
Cautions
Well tolerated topically. No systemic blood-clotting concerns at topical concentrations. One of the safest brightening ingredients.
